Cucumbers sold out in Iceland after viral TikTok video

An unexpected cucumber shortage has hit Iceland. The reason for this unusual phenomenon was a viral recipe for cucumber salad that spread on social media.
It all started when popular TikTok user Logan Moffitt, known for his original recipes with cucumbers, shared a new way to cook this vegetable, the BBC reports.
His recipes quickly gained millions of views and became a real trend.

Icelanders have enthusiastically embraced the new culinary fashion. Local supermarkets have recorded a sharp increase in demand for cucumbers, sesame oil, and other ingredients needed to make Moffitt's salad. Farmers, who did not expect such a rush, admit that they do not have time to meet the needs of consumers.
Although some experts believe that the cucumber shortage is due to seasonal fluctuations in production and the return of schoolchildren, most agree that the TikTok viral trend has played a significant role.
