Showing respect: how to dispose of consecrated objects

After church celebrations, we often have consecrated items that need to be properly disposed of. UAportal will tell you what rules you should follow.
Blessed willow
Our ancestors practiced a special ritual during which a branch of a consecrated willow was stuck into the land they were going to cultivate. Those who did not have a garden could feed it to their cattle, burn it in the oven, or bury it near the house.
In addition, blessed willow branches can be carefully released into the river. It is traditionally believed that running water has a cleansing power, washing away all the accumulated negativity. Thus, throwing willow branches into the river becomes an ethically correct method of disposal.
Blessed Easter cakes
The Church strictly forbids desecrating consecrated food, for example, by trampling or scattering it. Similar to the customs of our ancestors, it is recommended to properly bury the remains of Easter food.
Easter cake, as an integral part of this holiday tradition, should ideally be eaten in its entirety. However, if this is not possible, it can be carefully and respectfully buried where no one walks, drives, or performs any ground work.
