Strawberries have rightfully won their place among the favorite berries of gardeners who want to get a generous harvest. UAportal has prepared recommendations that will help ensure that the bushes bear fruit abundantly.

Remember that strawberries have low resistance to cold weather, so it is advisable to wait until the soil in the upper layer warms up to at least 8-9 degrees Celsius before planting. Premature planting can lead to the death of these delicate plants.

When choosing a site for strawberries, give preference to black soil, sandy loam soil, or clay soil, avoiding hills or valleys that can lead to stagnant water or excessive drying.

To plant strawberries properly, start by preparing the soil. Before planting in the open ground, dig it up and loosen it, enriching it with compost or wood ash at the rate of 200 grams per square meter. This mineral supplement strengthens the soil, promoting healthy growth and resisting potential pests.

Before planting, it is recommended to soak the strawberry roots in an antiparasitic solution. This treatment helps prevent common plant diseases and protects against harmful ones.

Technique for planting strawberries in the open field

Start by shortening the roots of each strawberry plant to about 20-25 centimeters. Individual plants can be planted in a single row, leaving a gap of up to one meter between the rows and placing each bush at a distance of 25-30 centimeters from each other.

When planting the plants in the prepared holes, add a tablespoon of ash to each hole. Carefully place the root without bending it, making sure that the root hole is not buried or raised above the ground. After planting, water the soil gently and compact it.

After planting, provide sufficient watering by pouring 2-3 liters of water under each bush. Mulching with straw, pine needles, or fine bark between plants helps prevent weed growth and retains important moisture. To improve optimal rooting, cut off strawberry branches in a timely manner as they grow.
