Bruschetta with jamon is a popular Italian appetizer consisting of fried slices of bread with thin slices of jamon.

Jamon is a type of Spanish air-dried ham that is made from pigs.  It is great for appetizers or accompaniments to the main course, stopcor writes.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of fresh bread (preferably baguette)
  • 4 slices of jamon
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic (optional)
  • Fresh greens for decoration (e.g. basil or parsley)

Preparation:

  1. Toast the bread. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Place the bread slices in the pan and fry them on both sides until golden brown. The bread should be crispy but not too hard.
  2. Prepare the bruschetta. If you want to add garlic flavor, rub the slices of fried bread with a clove of garlic. Place one slice of jamon on each bruschetta. You can fold it neatly or twist it a bit to create an interesting look. If desired, you can add a little extra olive oil on top to moisten it.
  3. Garnish with fresh herbs, such as basil or parsley, if desired, and serve.

Tips:

  • You can use any kind of bread you like. However, baguette is the best because it has a crispy crust and a soft core.
  • For a richer flavor, you can use black bread.
  • If you don't like jamon, you can use another type of ham or even sausage.
  • You can also add other ingredients to the bruschetta, such as cheese, tomatoes, olives, or vegetables.
