Traveling towards Zhytomyr. What to add to your vacation at the Korostyshiv quarry

The Zhytomyr region is a place full of legends and interesting places that will amaze the eye and blow up social media. Radomysl Castle
A treasure trove of printing history and a historical tourist attraction endowed with low-key charm. Today, the castle is full of life from excursions and ceremonies to festivals and art events. The castle has a museum of Ukrainian icons with more than 5,000 exhibits. The castle has a beautiful architecture and is surrounded by a green park area with a pond where you can walk and have a picnic. There is also a hotel complex on the territory of the castle, where you can arrange a romantic weekend escape or afford a full vacation surrounded by castle walls and historical atmosphere.
Entrance tickets cost from 70 to 150 UAH (depending on the day, age, and social category), and family tickets are also available from 170 to 320 UAH (the price varies depending on the number of people and age of children). Children under the age of 6 visit the castle and tours free of charge. Additional entertainment and master classes are available on the territory of the castle and landscape park. For example, you can ride a boat that can accommodate up to 4 people for 150 UAH (per boat) or shoot in the archery and crossbow range for 50 UAH (per person).
Carmelite monastery-fortress
A place where legends and picturesque landscapes live. The Carmelite Monastery-Fortress is located in Berdychiv, just 40 km from Zhytomyr. This is a whole town where you will find many historical attractions, among which the main attraction is the Monastery of the Barefoot Carmelites (17th century). You can visit the monastery for free. You will have the opportunity to walk both among the external historical labyrinths and inside. Near the monastery there is a park area and a large bay of the Hnylopyat River, where you can relax on a warm day and enjoy the surrounding silence.
A small spoiler: according to legend, Janusz Tyszkiewicz had a dream while in captivity where the monks prayed for him and his release. When he was freed from captivity and traveling in Lublin, he saw the same monks from his dream and founded a monastery for them. Thus the Barefoot Carmelite Monastery was founded.
Drevlyansky Park - Korosten
In an hour from Zhytomyr there is a small town where you can get stuck for the whole weekend. The main gem of the location is the Drevlyansky Park. Located on both sides of the Uzh River, the park is perfect for picturesque summer walks and landscape photo shoots. On the 8 hectares, you will find gazebos for relaxation, instagrammable bridges and monuments, fountains, and unusual landscape ideas. The park is home to the Skelya military history complex, where you can take a tour and learn more about the Second World War.
The park is among the top 12 best parks in Ukraine and is compared to Sofiyivka. You will be able to see the famous monument to the potato pancake (a national dish of the region) and visit one of the most delicious festivals in Ukraine in September.
Slovechansko-Ovruchsky ridge
A picturesque location where summer vacation will have all its charms. The protected area draws landscapes similar to those of Transcarpathia: green forests, clear, cool water and cozy silence for an authentic vacation in Ukraine.
The ridge is 60 km long, so you can spend some time searching for the perfect place, or you can visit the location with the help of travel agencies directly from Zhytomyr. Rumor has it that the local vegetation has "seen dinosaurs" and the animals, in terms of the number of rare species, can be included in the Guinness Book of Records. Slovechansko-Ovruchsky ridge is a place for active tourist recreation with backpacks, hiking, tents and a camera that does not turn off for more than 5 minutes.
Korolev Museum of Cosmonautics
You can visit space and plunge into the boundless world of stars and planets without leaving Zhytomyr. Learn about the history of astronautics in Ukraine visually. Among the exhibits, you will be able to see animals that have been in space, touch the satellites and even the lunar soil. Put on a spacesuit and feel like a space traveler. Children are enthusiastic about visiting the museum, where interactive rooms help to transfer them to space with the ease of children's imagination.
