UAportal will tell you how to make an effective fertilizer from coffee grounds. Using this easily accessible ingredient, you can influence the growth of your plants.

For a garden to thrive, it is important to fertilize crops at different stages of their growth. There are traditional methods, but using coffee grounds can be an equally effective alternative.

Coffee grounds serve as an organic fertilizer that is great for many crops due to its high nutrient content. Thanks to such valuable elements as nitrogen, magnesium, potassium, calcium and phosphorus, it enriches and revitalizes the soil like no other.

What plants benefit from this fertilizer? A number of them show significant improvements in growth and productivity when fertilized with coffee grounds. Here are some of them that develop particularly well: cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, radishes, potatoes, onions and various types of herbs

In addition, many indoor plants also bloom better when fertilized with coffee grounds. Hydrangeas, begonias, azaleas, and camellias all respond extremely well to this type of fertilizer.

It is important to note that not all plants benefit equally from coffee grounds. Cacti, succulents, and roses, especially those with light colors, should not be fertilized with it. The acidic properties of coffee can interfere with the optimal growth of these plants, and in the case of roses, it can affect the color of the flowers.

Tips for fertilizing

Adding coffee grounds to the soil mixture when repotting garden or indoor flowers serves as a protection against pests and slugs, and improves moisture retention at the root level. This fertilizer is also suitable for tomatoes. Use coffee grounds as mulch or sprinkle them around mature plants.

Cucumbers get similar benefits from coffee grounds when using the same methods as for tomatoes. When preparing the site for planting strawberries, it is very useful to add fertilizer to the soil. Mix the coffee grounds with the soil and add an additional layer of soil on top. This mixture will both protect against pests and provide the plants with important trace elements.
