What food to take with you on the road: useful tips

Traveling, roads, trains, gas stations, and cars to the borders have become a frequent occurrence for Ukrainians in recent years.

A "to-go" supply will help you avoid eating at questionable roadside/train station cafes, minimize white bread, organize snacks for kids, and avoid snickers.

We pack depending on the type of trip:

Vegetables Fruits

- carrots, peppers, radishes, mini cucumbers, cherries

- berries, healthier fruits, fruits in eco-packaging)) - banana, tangerine

- olives. unexpectedly? perfect snack. love it

Nuts and dried fruits

- Nuts and seeds, raw. salted and fried less often: the most nutritious

- dried fruits are better than industrial desserts at gas stations, but in general, sweet snacks are a kind of strategy, a lot of sugar.

Chocolate bars

- adequate composition, turn it over and read it! no syrups, 90% raisins and endless oatmeal. learn to read the ingredients. based on...flax-pumpkin, nuts-coconut, vegan protein (!)

- chocolate. cocoa beans, raw chocolate, black with nuts, not dairy

Bread and chips

- nutty. 1 - fats are healthy. 2 - saturation. all kinds of seeds and nuts, flax, sesame, hemp bread, such as sunflower

- gluten-free breads and "foam". less gluten - easier digestion. made from quinoa, brown rice, buckwheat, mixes.

- Cereals. the inscription "from whole grains". simple ingredients: grain, salt. Rye, spelt, fincrisp

- algae and vegetable chips. exclude refined oils and sugar in the composition

- fruit chips, banana chips (with coconut oil). that's the whole composition, holistic and minimalistic, less sugar

- freeze-dried snacks. Do not be afraid of the word - ok method of preserving the product by drying at low temperatures. getting rid of moisture while maintaining the benefits. Crispy beans, peas, berries.

Additionally, protein

⁃ protein bars of normal composition, preferably vegan, made from nuts and legumes rather than whey protein and sugar

⁃ Legumes: dehydrated chickpeas, peas, packaged hummus, sesame crackers, flax chips

⁃ depending on the transport - dried/salted meat or fish in packaging, aged cheese in slices (only sealed packages)

⁃ if children - yogurts in a package, for food safety reasons, vegetable nut ones are better

- water, your favorite teas and drop packs with coffee
