Finding reliable and inconspicuous hiding places to store money in your home can provide an additional layer of protection against thieves. UAportal shares different ways to protect your valuables.

Unconventional places to keep money:

Kitchen

In the kitchen, you shouldn't keep money in prominent places, such as in a cookie jar, as this is one of the first places where thieves can start looking. Instead, you can use a cookbook or a removable section of the kitchen cabinet.

In addition, you should not hide money among other things in the pantry, as it can be easily lost or accidentally thrown away during cleaning. For a more inconspicuous hiding place, a small zippered bag hidden inside a rarely used appliance, such as a toaster or slow cooker, is better.

Bedroom

Do not keep money in the bedroom under the mattress or in the drawers of the dresser, as these are the most common places thieves look through in the first place. Instead, it is recommended to consider using a safe.

You should also avoid typical hiding places, such as picture frames or clothing pockets, as experienced thieves can easily spot them. As an alternative, you can use an old shoebox or a fake electrical outlet with a removable front panel, which can become a less noticeable hiding place.

Living room

Do not leave money in the living room in predictable places, such as jewelry boxes, which are often targeted by burglars. Instead, it is better to use an artificial plant with a hidden base or a hollow book on a shelf.

Avoid placing cash in common decorative items such as vases or candlesticks, as they can be easily knocked over or broken. Choose inconspicuous places, for example inside electronic devices with easily removable panels, such as speakers or clocks, for safer and less predictable placement.
