How to salt herring or mackerel deliciously

Herring or mackerel salted with your own hands is not only delicious, but also quick to prepare. Try it!
Choose high-quality frozen fish, and a ready-made herring pickling kit will help you with the marinade.
For 3 pieces:
(2,100 g of whole fish, which makes 1,050 g of fillets)
2 packs of seasoning for marinating herring
2 red onions
hot pepper, fragrant oil - optional
Clean the fish, cut into fillets and chop it into pieces so that the finished dish can be easily removed from the container.
Prepare the marinade: add 2 packs of seasonings to 600 g of water (slightly less than indicated on the package), bring to a boil and cool. Add 15 ml of apple cider vinegar for a moderately sour taste!
(This step can be done in advance).
In a container that can be covered with a lid, put the fillet slices, chopped onions, and a little hot pepper. Pour the cold marinade over them. Cover the top with more onion rings and add fragrant oil.
The marinade turns out to be pleasantly salty and moderately spicy - the perfect balance!
Put it in the fridge for 12 hours.
The dish can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5-6 days, but it tastes best in the first 3 days, especially with mashed potatoes and a slice of Ukrainian bread. It is just incredibly delicious.
