During the off-season, store-bought tomatoes often lack the flavor and aroma we associate with this juicy vegetable. However, if you come across a batch of tasteless fruit, don't be upset! UAportal has prepared three useful life hacks on how to improve their flavor.

Pickling

Start by washing the tomatoes, removing the stems, and cutting them into portions of the right size for the recipe you have chosen. Then sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and salt.

Drizzle with vegetable oil. If you plan to add tomatoes to a salad or as a serve as a side dish, season them with aromatic spices or fresh herbs to enhance the overall flavor.

Hot water

Put the tomatoes in a suitable container and carefully cover them with hot water, making sure the water temperature does not exceed 50 degrees Celsius. Leave them in the hot water for about 5 minutes. After that, let the tomatoes cool down.

Herbs

Tomatoes go well with basil or tarragon leaves, as well as fresh dill, parsley, or mint. If the previous methods did not give the desired results, it's time to use these natural flavor enhancers.
