Many people tend to throw their jeans into the washing machine after every wear, believing that this is the best way to keep them clean. However, this approach can actually lead to faster deterioration of the fabric and a decrease in overall quality. To make your jeans last longer, UAportal has prepared some effective tips.

Frequency matters

Although it may be an instinctive desire to wash your jeans frequently, it is advisable to do so no more than once every two weeks. You can freshen up the fabric with a damp dishwashing sponge to help keep it clean without subjecting it to a hard wash.

Spot treatment

For localized stains, it is not necessary to wash the entire surface of the jeans. Instead, focus on treating the specific areas that are stained to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on the undamaged areas.

Machine wash instructions:

1. Preservation of color

Before putting your jeans in the machine, turn them inside out. This simple step can go a long way towards preserving the vivid color of the fabric and protecting decorative elements such as logos or embroidery.

2. Protecting the zipper

Make sure the zipper is closed. This prevents zipper teeth from catching on items during the wash, protecting both your jeans and other clothes in the machine.

3. Maintaining softness

To achieve softness of the fabric, choose a mild or gel detergent.

4. Appropriate water temperature

When washing jeans, it is very important to set the water temperature between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius. Higher temperatures can cause the fabric to fray or fade, which can affect the overall appearance of the jeans.

5. Drying

After washing, it is advisable to skip the spin cycle as it may affect the shape of the jeans. Instead, take the jeans out of the machine and let them air dry. Gentle spinning by hand will help to facilitate the drying process without putting too much stress on the fabric.
