Second-hand clothes can often have an unpleasant odor that is difficult to eliminate. UAportal has told you that by following these five tips, you can easily say goodbye to the unpleasant aroma and enjoy your finds with confidence.

Optimal washing

The first step in fighting odors is to wash your clothes thoroughly. Make sure you use enough detergent and fabric softener. Set the water temperature to the highest possible temperature and consider using an extra rinse cycle.

Ventilate.

This simple step allows fresh air to circulate and helps remove any initial odors.

Baking soda

If airing is not possible, baking soda can work wonders. Sprinkle baking soda liberally on your clothes and leave them for several hours. It will effectively absorb and neutralize unpleasant odors.

Ammonia

Another effective way to eliminate unpleasant odors is to soak your clothes in an ammonia solution. Mix one or two tablespoons of ammonia with five liters of warm water and leave the clothes for a while before proceeding with the usual wash.

Soaking in scented salt

Before washing strongly odorous clothes, try soaking them in scented salt. Use about one kilogram in warm water for soaking. This method not only helps to eliminate unpleasant odors, but also fills the fabric with a wonderful scent.
