Multicookers offer convenience and versatility in the kitchen and allow you to prepare a wide range of delicious dishes. However, persistent aromas from certain foods or even the smell of plastic from new appliances can be annoying. UAportal has prepared several ways to eliminate these unwanted odors.

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits, such as lemons and oranges, have natural odor-fighting properties. If you don't have whole fruit on hand, a small amount of citric acid will work just as well.

Fill the appliance with water and then add a slice of lemon, orange or a teaspoon of citric acid. Turn on the slow cooker to the "Boil" mode and leave the water to boil for about 20 minutes. The resulting steam will release a refreshing citrus aroma that effectively neutralizes any odors.

Vinegar.

Kitchens often have this versatile household ingredient, which also works wonders in eliminating unpleasant odors. Mix equal parts water and vinegar. Dampen a cloth or sponge in the solution and wipe the inside of the slow cooker thoroughly.

Leave the vinegar solution on for about 5 minutes to thoroughly absorb and neutralize any lingering odors. Rinse the device with clean water to completely remove any residue. Leave the multicooker with the lid open to ventilate for at least half a day to allow the odors to escape.

Activated charcoal

Activated charcoal has absorption properties that make it a great choice for fighting odors in the slow cooker. Crush a packet of activated charcoal tablets and place them in the appliance. Close the lid tightly and leave the activated charcoal to work overnight.

By morning, the activated charcoal will have effectively absorbed unwanted odors and your slow cooker will smell fresh. Simply discard the charcoal and wipe the bowl before using it again.
