UAportal has prepared three effective ways to defrost food. They are universal and easy to use.

The paper towel method

An effective way to defrost food is to put it on a paper towel. It will absorb moisture and speed up the defrosting process. This method is especially suitable for foods such as bacon, meat, or vegetables. Simply place the paper towel on a plate, spread the food in a single layer, and leave it for a few hours.

Cold water

Cold water can be used to defrost food quickly and safely in a short period of time. Place the sealed food in a leak-proof bag and immerse it in a bowl of cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes.

This method works well for large foods such as a whole chicken. It is important to use cold water to ensure that the food is at a safe temperature while defrosting.

Use a microwave oven

The microwave is a handy tool for defrosting food quickly, especially when time is limited. Use the defrost mode and be sure to turn and stir the food periodically to ensure even defrosting.

This method is ideal for small foods, such as frozen berries or slices of bread, and saves a lot of time in the kitchen.
