Throughout history, haircutting has been accompanied by certain rules. In folk traditions, various signs warn people against potential troubles that may arise. UAportal said that understanding these basic prohibitions is crucial to avoid any undesirable consequences.

As for haircutting, there is a long-standing belief that it should never be done by direct relatives. This long-standing tradition stems from the belief that it can cause adverse effects. Here are some specific guidelines that explain in detail who should avoid cutting each other's hair

  • A daughter should refrain from cutting her father's hair.
  • Similarly, a mother is advised to avoid cutting her child's hair.
  • In the relationship between spouses, it is considered unfavorable for a wife to cut her husband's hair, and vice versa.

Interestingly, according to folk beliefs, hair-cutting practices are also intertwined with a person's birthday. For example, if someone was born on Wednesday, Sunday is considered a favorable day for a haircut.

Conversely, those born on Thursday can choose any of the following days for a haircut: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Friday. In turn, those born on Friday can choose Monday, Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday for a haircut. For those born on Saturday, Friday is the perfect day for a haircut.

One of the worst superstitions associated with haircuts concerns the process itself. This belief goes beyond mere superstition, as it claims that people who cut their own hair not only risk their health but may also unknowingly attract death. According to this sign, each cut strand actually subtracts one year from a person's life expectancy.
