Fresh flowers are always a good addition to any interior. They not only bring a certain harmony to the situation, but also cheer you up. UAportal tells you what will help keep flowers fresh for much longer.

Control the amount of water

First of all, never leave a bouquet without water. When buying flowers, ask that they be packed in a separate container with liquid or wrap the stems in damp paper towels. In addition, as soon as you bring the bouquet home, immediately put it in water.

Trim the stems

Before putting the flowers in a vase, it is important to cut the stems. Cut them at a 45-degree angle about 3-5 cm from the bottom. This way, the plant will absorb water better.

Add flower fertilizer to the water

Cut flowers do not have access to nutrients from the soil. You can buy a flower food powder to help prolong their freshness. You can also add a pinch of baking soda to the vase (about ¾ teaspoon per liter of water).
