Quick and effective: top tips for cleaning skewers and grill grates

When it comes to maintaining cleanliness, especially of barbecues and grills, it is important to know effective cleaning methods. UAportal has collected simple tips for keeping skewers and barbecue grills clean.
Soaking
One effective method is to soak the items in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Leave the devices for at least 30 minutes to allow the acidity to break down food particles that are stuck to them.
After they are soaked, rinse thoroughly with warm water and soap, and wipe off any remaining vinegar thoroughly to get a clean result. If dirt still remains, the process can be repeated for more effective cleaning.
Baking soda
Spread a mixture of baking soda and water on the skewers and grill grates and leave for 15-20 minutes. The mild abrasive nature of the substance will help remove grease and grime, making it easier to wipe off stubborn stains. Rinse thoroughly to ensure a clean surface.
Lemon and salt scrub
A natural and effective way is to cut a lemon in half and sprinkle salt on the cut side. Then use it as a scrubber by pressing lightly on skewers and grill grates.
The natural acidity of the lemon combined with the abrasive effect of the salt helps to remove burnt-on residue and grease. After the first scrub, leave the items in water for a few minutes, and then wash thoroughly for best results.
Boiling water
Put the items in a heat-resistant dish and pour hot water over, leaving them for a few minutes. The heat will help soften stuck-on food, making it easier to remove the remaining with a sponge and then rinse.
