In Sweden, archaeologists have discovered a medieval grave with the remains of a man and a sword over 1.2 meters long. The unusual discovery was made during archaeological research in the port city of Halmstad.
A total of 49 medieval graves were discovered. Initially, the graves were under a monastery that operated from 1494 to 1531, Arkeonews reports.
One grave stood out among the others: the grave of a tall elite man. The only artifact in the grave was a sword, which was placed to the left of the man.

The surviving parts of the sword, including the wooden hilt, are more than 1.2 meters long. Archaeologists say that an X-ray image of the sword revealed an inlay of two crosses.

The crosses were probably made of precious metal. The presence of a sword indicates that the deceased was a person of elite or high status. Two more graves were discovered nearby, one belonging to an adult woman and the other to a man.

As a reminder, geoglyphs of cats and humanoid figures dating back to 30 BC were discovered in Peru.
