As a rule, freshly cut tulips can retain their beauty for 5 days with proper care. However, this period can be significantly extended.

First of all, when choosing a bunch, make sure that all the tulips are closed and at the beginning of their life. This is reported by Express.co.uk.

After that, pluck the lower leaves. They die within a day and can cause bacteria to build up.

Then take a toothpick and poke just below the flower. This allows air to escape from the stem and reduces them from sagging over the edge. Next, take a knife, not scissors, and cut the stems at a 45-degree angle.

After that, add a teaspoon of sugar and a few ice cubes to the water in the vase because tulips prefer cold water. Change the water every two to three days, and you're done.
