How to make an orchid bloom twice as fast

Orchids often do not bloom quickly, even after a year, if the right steps are not taken. There is a simple trick to speed up the flowering process.

TikTok user @orchids_withlove shared her advice in a video. It was reported by Express.co.uk.

The orchid expert conducted an experiment with two of her orchids that had just finished blooming at the same time and decided to prune them in different ways. For the first, she cut off the spike (stem) completely, and for the second, she cut just above the node - the part of the plant's stem from which one or more leaves and flowers emerge.

After checking the first orchid five months later, it turned out that the one with the thorn completely cut off had bloomed. However, the second orchid, the one with the thorn cut off just above the knot, did not produce any flowers.

"So, here's a pro tip: always cut the spike completely off when your orchid is done blooming, and you'll get new blooms in just a few months," she added.
