How to speed up the ripening of green bananas

Bananas have a very short shelf life of about two to three days if you buy them when they are ripe. Green bananas can last longer, but they must be ripened properly.

The banana peel can be easily damaged, which can degrade the quality of the fruit inside and also reduce its shelf life. Experts told how to store bananas properly, Express.co.uk reports.

Storing fruit in the refrigerator can help extend its shelf life by up to 10 days after ripening. When bananas reach the desired color, simply put them in the refrigerator away from other fruits.

To speed up the ripening of green bananas, place them in bags. The gases they give off will work.

After that, put them in the refrigerator when they are ripe to stop blackening. Bananas give off an insane amount of gas that can ripen prematurely near fruit, so store them separately.

As a reminder, some products that we have always considered non-alcoholic contain alcohol. In particular, scientists say that an unripe banana contains about 0.2% alcohol, and a ripe banana contains 0.4%.
