How to quickly and easily remove tea stains from cups

Brown marks or stains from tea and coffee on cups can be unsightly. However, they can be easily removed without the use of harsh chemicals.

Dark stains on a mug are caused by tannins, a plant compound found in tea leaves and coffee grounds. Caroline, a cleaning expert from Truly Blissful, said that the easiest way to get rid of stains on mugs is to clean them with baking soda, according to Express.co.uk.

You need to pour some baking soda into the stained cup and add a few drops of warm water. Then the mixture will turn into a paste.

Rub the paste gently into the stains and they will lift easily. You can use a cloth for this.

After the cup is clean, rinse it well with water. Baking soda has a slightly alkaline effect, which means it naturally removes acid stains, such as those from tea and coffee. The slightly grainy texture also prevents scratching of surfaces.
