The smallest cat breeds: photos and characteristics

There are a number of cat breeds that impress with their diminutive size and exquisite features. However, their "compactness" is not the main privilege of these breeds.

Miniature cat breeds are the result of natural mutations or targeted hybridization. One of the most famous dwarf breeds is the Munchkin, a cat that appeared naturally and became the basis for many modern miniature breeds.

The breeds of these cats are divided according to two main criteria: height or weight. The first category includes cats with short limbs and a small body, and the second category includes animals weighing no more than 4 kg. Also among the small breeds are cats with a normal build but very compact size.

Here are the most common miniature cat breeds:

Singaporean cat

It is considered one of the smallest cats on the planet. Despite their modest size, Singapura are real activists. They are incredibly playful and affectionate, and their fur has a unique sepia shade.

Munchkin

These cats are known for their short legs, which resemble those of a dachshund. Despite their unusual appearance, Munchkins are very cheerful and energetic. They easily adapt to any environment and will make a great companion for the whole family.

American Curl

The main feature of this breed is its ears, which are curled back. But this is not the only thing that makes them attractive. American Curls are very affectionate, sociable, and easy to learn different commands.

Cornish Rex

These cats with curly fur look like soft plush toys. Their fur practically does not shed, making them ideal for people with allergies. Cornish Rexes are very active and playful, but also very affectionate.

Devon Rex

Another breed with curly fur, but with more pronounced elven features. Devons are very intelligent, sociable, and love attention. They quickly become attached to their owners and become real family members.

Siamese cat: Although Siamese cats are not the smallest in the world, they have a very graceful and slender build. Their character is also very specific - they are very intelligent, curious, and love to be the center of attention.
