Dishes after the dishwasher are dirty and smell bad: what to do

Get rid of dishwasher odor with these simple tips Your dishwasher is a lifesaver in the kitchen, but sometimes it can be a nuisance, such as an unpleasant odor after a cycle.
This can happen for several reasons. One of the most common is food residue on the dishes you are washing. If you don't rinse the dishes before loading them, the food residue can rot and cause an unpleasant odor, writes santeplusmag.com.

Some cheap detergents cannot cope with odors, especially strong ones, such as fish, garlic, or onions. Over time, grease, dirt, and bacteria build up in the dishwasher, which can also lead to odors.
How to get rid of dishwasher odors
1. Clean the dishwasher:
Run an empty cycle with 2 cups of white vinegar or citric acid in the bottom of the machine. Wipe the inside of the machine with a sponge moistened with vinegar or citric acid. Also clean the filter.
2. Use good quality detergents:
Choose detergents that neutralize odors. Add a rinse aid for shine and freshness.
3. Rinse the dishes first:
Remove any food residue from the dishes before loading. Rinse heavily soiled dishes with boiling water.
Experts recommend putting half a lemon in the dishwasher while washing dishes. Alternatively, you can add baking soda to the detergent compartment. Instead of baking soda, you can use citric acid and run the machine on the mode that provides for the maximum dishwashing temperature.
