There are three types of trees that are not recommended to be planted near a house because of their high ability to attract lightning.

When choosing trees for your yard, it is important to consider not only their aesthetic appeal or productivity, but also the possible risks they can pose. For example, experts say that some trees are more likely to attract lightning, which can be very dangerous. TSN writes about this.

So, what are these trees?

Oak is probably the most electrically conductive tree of all. Our ancestors even believed that planting an oak tree near a house brings bad luck, as lightning most often hits it.

Poplar is another rather dangerous tree that attracts lightning. In addition, its fragile and thin branches can cause a fire or electric shock if they fall on a house.

Pine is a tree that is vulnerable to electrical discharges. If lightning strikes a pine tree, the bark can fly tens of meters away, posing an additional danger to your home and family.

According to statistics, out of every 100 lightning strikes, 54 hit oak, 24 hit poplar, and 6 hit pine. This makes you wonder if you should have these trees on your property.

Instead, linden and birch are considered safer options and can be a great decoration for any garden.
