Not just a sign of love: why cats sleep next to their owners

Cats are quite independent creatures, but they often prefer to sleep next to their owners. What can this mean?
The answer to this question was given by Amy McCready, a specialist at the AnimalWised initiative, TSN reports. She notes that cats are very fond of warmth, so it is not surprising that they choose to sleep near a person. They just want extra warmth.
This is especially common in regions with a cool climate, where even a long-haired cat may not feel enough warmth. In other parts of the house, the animal may not be able to sleep as comfortably, and your body serves as a kind of "radiator". Moreover, the cat may not only lie next to you, but also try to lie on top of you.
The AnimalWised YouTube channel has also posted a video showing that despite their playfulness, cats are quite lazy. They can sleep for up to 15 hours a day, choosing the most comfortable places for this, including soft beds. Therefore, one of the reasons why a cat sleeps next to a person is for comfort.
Amy also emphasizes that cats always remain alert, even when they appear to be relaxed. A strong relationship with an animal is very important, so if a cat feels safe around you, it will sleep on your bed.
The pet expert added that cats are most active at dusk, so they may need an extra sense of security at night. Because of this, they often choose to sleep next to their owners, who can protect them in case of danger.
Sometimes a cat shows its feelings for humans in this way. If it feels a strong connection to its owner and trusts you, it can "allow" itself to sleep next to you. If the cat climbs on the bed and rubs against you, it means that it considers this place its own and thus marks the territory.
