Stress, anxiety, or just plain inner turmoil - many reasons can keep us awake at night. Counting sheep, listening to soothing music, or reading a book doesn't always help.

But don't despair, because there is a simple method that can help you fall asleep quickly - "moon breathing," writes Fit for fun.

What is moonlighting?

"Moonlighting is a Japanese breathing technique that is also used in yoga. Its name comes from the fact that it calms the mind and body, just as the moon calms the night.

How does moon breathing work?

Lie down or sit comfortably. Close your right nostril with your right index and middle fingers. Inhale deeply and slowly through your left nostril. Slowly exhale through your left nostril. Repeat 3 or 4 times for 5-10 minutes.

How does "moon breathing" help you fall asleep?

The left nostril is connected to the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation. Deep breathing through the left nostril stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which leads to relaxation of the body and mind.

"Moon breathing" can also help you during the day. If you feel tired and need energy, close your left nostril and breathe deeply through your right nostril. This "solar breathing" will help you recharge your batteries.

It takes a little practice to master the "moon breath". Don't despair if you don't get it right the first time. Keep practicing and you'll be able to fall asleep within minutes.
