Cat shits in the car: how to effectively get rid of cat urine odor
The smell of cat urine in the car can be awful. Not only is it unpleasant, but it can also be dangerous to your health.
If your cat has gone to the bathroom in the car instead of the litter box, you'll need to get rid of the odor quickly to prevent it from spreading, experts at askmycats warned.
There are several ways to get rid of cat urine odor in the car. The best way depends on how fresh the stain is and what material the surfaces are made of that the animal has stained.
If the stain is fresh, you can try to remove it using water and soapy water. Apply the solution to the stain and wipe it off with a sponge. Let the solution air dry.
If the stain has dried, you'll need a stronger stain remover, such as an enzyme stain remover, which is designed to remove animal odors. Apply the product to the stain and leave it on for several hours or overnight. Then wipe the stain with a sponge and rinse it with water.
You can also try a vinegar solution. Mix vinegar and water 1 to 1 and apply it to the stain and leave it on for a few minutes. Then wipe the stain with a sponge and rinse with a damp cloth.
If you want to get rid of the odor urgently, cover the stain with baking soda and leave it to act overnight. Then take a vacuum cleaner and remove the baking soda from the seat fabric.
If the cat urine stain does not disappear after these steps, you can try using a 3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution. Apply the solution to the stain with an eyedropper and blot it with a dry towel.
"Be patient. It may take several times to completely remove the odor," the experts added.
