Seed preparation:
- Choose seeds that are suitable for your climate.
- Discard small and deformed seeds.
- Warm the seeds in a thermos of hot water for 2 hours.
- Disinfect the seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate.
- Germinate the seeds in damp gauze.
Sow the seeds:
- Use separate containers with a volume of at least 500 ml.
- Make drainage holes and add expanded clay to the bottom.
- Fill the containers with cucumber, melon and watermelon soil.
- Make holes 3 cm deep and place the sprouted seeds.
- Sprinkle with soil and water abundantly.
- Cover with foil and place in a warm place until germination.
Seedling care:
- When the seedlings appear, transfer the containers to the windowsill.
- Maintain the optimum temperature: 21°C during the day and 18°C at night.
- Provide the seedlings with 12 hours of daylight.
- Water moderately with settled water at room temperature.
- Feed the seedlings twice: a week after germination with mineral fertilizers, and before planting with a solution of wood ash.
- The day before planting in open ground, leave the seedlings outside under cover.
