How to make shoes waterproof: an effective life hack
You can protect your shoes from getting wet at home

With the onset of cold weather and snow melting, feet in wet shoes are not the best option. To protect your shoes from moisture, you can use factory-made methods, such as sprays, creams, and other products, or traditional ones that can be made from improvised materials.

Telegraf writes about it.

The most popular traditional means for waterproofing shoes are beeswax, paraffin, and petroleum jelly. It is important that they are dye-free so as not to leave stains on the shoes.

Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural and effective way to waterproof shoes. It is quite easy to apply.

  1. Make sure your shoes are clean and thoroughly dried.
  2. Apply a thin, even layer of wax to the surface of the shoe, paying special attention to the seams and folds.
  3. To enhance absorption, warm the shoes with a hair dryer. Continue heating until the wax disappears.
  4. As the wax liquefies, it will penetrate the fabric, closing tiny holes and creating a barrier against moisture. Then it hardens again in the form of a transparent protective layer.

Candle wax (paraffin)

Candle wax is a great substitute for beeswax.

  1. Just rub a candle on your shoes.
  2. When the entire shoe is covered, take a hair dryer and heat the paraffin wax as you would with a wax method.
