How to defrost the freezer quickly: housewives share effective life hacks

Defrosting a freezer is often perceived as a tedious and time-consuming process. However, with the help of simple methods, you can make it quick and safe.
The French portal Sante+ shares proven ways to defrost your freezer:
The hot water pan method:
- Put the food in a thermal bag with cooling elements.
- Cover the floor near the freezer with rags and newspapers.
- Disconnect the appliance from the electrical outlet.
- Remove the shelves and soak them in soapy water.
- Put a pot of boiling water in the bottom of the freezer, close the door tightly and leave for 15 minutes.
- Wipe the inside of the freezer with a cloth dipped in a solution of vinegar or baking soda.
- Wait until the freezer is completely dry, turn it on and put the shelves back in place.
The hair dryer method:
- Take a regular hair dryer.
- Hold it at a distance from the freezer, directing the heat to the frozen areas.
- The ice will start to thaw and you can collect the pieces that have broken off in a container or bucket.
Useful tips:
- Use scrapers to remove ice, avoiding hard pressure.
- Defrost the freezer at least twice a year.
- Apply a thin layer of vegetable oil to the walls to prevent ice from forming.
By following these recommendations, you will be able to defrost your freezer without any problems, keep your food fresh and reduce your refrigerator's energy consumption.
