  • Before freezing, the cheese must be hermetically sealed.
  • You can wrap the cheese in cling film or place it in a plastic or glass container.
  • If you choose to store the curd in a container, leave some space as the curd expands during freezing.
  • Once completely thawed, the cheese must not be frozen again.

Algorithm for freezing cheese:

  1. Grate the cheese or cut it into pieces.
  2. Divide the cheese into portions.
  3. Place the cheese in an airtight container, leaving some space.
  4. Mark the date of freezing on the container.
  5. Wrap the container with cling film or a regular bag to prevent odors from entering.
  6. Store cottage cheese in the freezer at a temperature of at least -18 degrees.

The shelf life of cottage cheese in the freezer is 1-2 months.

Tips for defrosting cottage cheese:

  • It is best to defrost cottage cheese in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf for 24 hours.
  • If you need to thaw the cheese faster, place it in a resealable bag and immerse it in cold water.
  • Do not defrost the cheese at room temperature as it may lose its flavor.
