How to water radishes to get a rich harvest

Radish is a tasty and fast-growing vegetable that is popular with many summer house residents. However, a number of them make mistakes in watering, pouring water abundantly over the beds.
To get a rich harvest, it's important to know how to water radishes properly. Anastasia Kovryzhnykh, an agronomist and landscape designer, shared her advice on this.
Regularity and moderation are the main conditions
Radishes love moisture, but do not tolerate its excess. Therefore, it is important to maintain regular and moderate watering.
The soil should be moist but not flooded to avoid root rot and other problems.
Use lukewarm water
It is recommended to use warm water to water radishes, especially at the beginning of growth. This will help the seeds germinate faster and stimulate root growth.
Thanks to this, radishes will develop faster and ripen earlier, which will lead to an increase in yield.
Try mulching to preserve moisture
Mulching the soil around radish plants is another effective way to increase yields. Mulch helps to retain moisture in the soil, prevents evaporation and maintains the optimum temperature for plant growth.
Mulch also helps control weeds, which are very active in the spring and can cause serious damage to the growth of all plants.
Amount of water
Experts recommend watering radishes less. This means that it is better to water radishes less frequently but abundantly than to do so frequently and with a small amount of water.
This approach promotes deep penetration of moisture into the soil and the development of strong and healthy roots, which ultimately leads to an increase in yield.
Fertilizing
Fertilizers with phosphorus or potassium can be added to the irrigation water. The use of nitrogen fertilizers is not a good ideas as the goal is to get root crops, not green foliage.
Of course, if the soil is fertile and loose, fertilizing is not necessary at all.
