Sooner or later, every caring cat owner wonders what kind of food can be given to cats out of "human" food. After all, the animal's health largely depends on what it eats.

In case cat food becomes unavailable for some reason, it is important to know what you can replace it with so as not to harm the health of the pet. The UAportal team writes about this.

What foods are suitable for cats?

If there is no food available, you can temporarily switch the cat to homemade food, but you need to carefully monitor the animal's reaction and choose only safe foods.

Lean meat. Chicken, turkey, or beef should be boiled or steamed. This is an excellent source of protein, which is essential for a cat's health.

River fish. Choose only low-fat species and always boneless. Fish should be boiled before serving.

Cereals. Rice, buckwheat, or oatmeal are ideal choices. They should be cooked well to facilitate the cat's digestion.

Vegetables. Boiled zucchini, carrots, or pumpkin are rich in vitamins and can be served chopped.

Eggs. One hard-boiled egg a week will provide your cat with important nutrients.

Vegetable oils. To compensate for the lack of fat, you can add a small amount of olive, soybean, or grape seed oil to the food.

What is the right way to introduce natural foods into a cat's diet?

A sudden change in diet can cause digestive problems in a cat. To avoid such situations, you should follow a few tips:

  1. Gradually introduce natural foods into the cat's diet.
  2. Reduce the amount of regular food by increasing the proportion of homemade food.
  3. Monitor the cat's condition and reaction to the new food.

If you have any doubts about the cat's diet, consult a veterinarian.
