Corn requires careful consideration of various factors, including seed selection and sowing time. UAportal has prepared recommendations for growing this crop.

Contrary to popular belief, early sowing is not always the best strategy for growing corn, as extremely cold conditions can hinder its survival. Therefore, choosing the right date is crucial.

Corn can be sown in mid-May or even in June, with preference given to the following days on the lunar calendar: May 22-24, 30-31; June 1-3, 5-6, 10-11, 19-20, and 26-30.

Ensuring proper soil preparation and adherence to cultivation techniques is also essential for a successful harvest. Start by clearing the crop area of weeds and any residue from the previous year.

Choosing high quality seeds plays an important role in getting a good harvest. Typically, corn seedlings appear 7-11 days after sowing. Before planting, check the quality of the grain and get rid of small, damaged or discolored seeds. Those that have spots or have darkened are unsuitable for cultivation.

The next important step is to warm the seeds for about five days. This can be done by spreading them out in a single layer in direct sunlight or by finding similar warm place.
