How to grow perfect cilantro: pay attention to watering
Cilantro, also known as coriander, is a versatile green with a unique flavor that can complement any dish. UAportal has prepared recommendations for planting it.
Cilantro thrives in cool weather and needs enough sunlight. Therefore, the best time to plant cilantro outdoors is after the last frost has passed. Morning sunlight or partial midday shade is optimal for the growth of this green.
You can safely sow cilantro seeds in early April when the soil is sufficiently moist from melting snow and the sun has not yet become too hot. Before planting, make sure the soil is well loosened and enriched with organic fertilizer.
Also, if the soil seems dry, it should be watered beforehand. For direct sowing of seeds in the open ground, start preparing the first beds about a week after the last frost.
Do cilantro seeds have to be soaked before planting?
To promote abundant germination, it is advisable to soak the seeds in water for several hours. For even better results, you can soak the seeds in aloe juice. This helps to remove surface oils that can interfere with germination, which promotes better and faster germination.
Aloe juice, thanks to its nutritional properties, will give the seeds extra strength and protection from diseases. When sowing cilantro, make sure you plant the seeds in rows about 15 centimeters apart. Bury the seeds half a centimeter into the ground and cover them lightly with soil.
