Cleaning cutting boards can be made simple and effective with common household products. From using baking soda to disinfecting with hydrogen peroxide, UAportal has told you how to do it.

Baking soda

A way to clean a cutting board from an unpleasant odor is to sprinkle it liberally with baking soda and leave it for several hours. Baking soda is a natural odor absorber and will help neutralize any lingering flavors. After the board has sat, it should be wiped with a damp sponge or cloth, then rinsed and dried thoroughly to remove any residual baking soda.

Lemon and salt

Another effective method of cleaning a cutting board is to use lemons and salt. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice onto the board, then sprinkle it with salt. Rubbing this mixture into the board will effectively remove any unpleasant odors. Afterward, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry to eliminate the odor.

Hydrogen peroxide

To disinfect and deodorize a cutting board, you can soak it in hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes, then rinse it with water and dry it. This is especially effective for cutting boards that have come into contact with raw meat and need to be thoroughly sanitized.
