How to remove mattress stains cheaply

Mattress stains are inevitable, but they're not that hard to remove. Even the most stubborn mattress stains can be removed with a simple home remedy.

Lucy Hill, a cleaner, struggled with sweat and blood stains on her mattress. According to her, the stains disappeared after using baking soda and white vinegar, according to Express.co.uk.

Start by applying baking soda directly to the stain, and then sprinkle a little white vinegar over the area. Just a little is enough to cover the stain.

When applying the vinegar solution, remember that less is more. The goal is to moisten the mattress, not to wet it. Waterlogging the mattress can lead to mold and mildew.

Leave these two kitchen ingredients on for about 30 minutes before using a clean cloth and wiping the mattress down. When combined, baking soda and vinegar enter into a chemical reaction that produces water and carbon dioxide. This carbonation reaction helps to loosen and remove stains.

To prevent mold, it is very important to let your mattress dry completely before placing bedding on it. To speed up drying, open windows or use a fan.
