Why cats can bite their owners and what it means
Why cats and cats bite their owners
We all know how cute and fluffy cats are. They are so nice to pet, hug, and squeeze! But sometimes these sweet creatures can suddenly bite. Why do they do this?
Remember that every cat is an individual. What works for one may not work for another. That's why it's important to find an approach to your furry friend, RadioTrek writes.
There may be several reasons:
- Insufficient socialization. If the kitten did not communicate with people at an early age, it may simply not know how to behave properly.
- Fear or pain. A cat can bite if it is in pain or afraid of something.
- Aggression. Sometimes cats bite when they don't like what you are doing. For example, if you pet her for too long or try to pick her up.
- Stress. Hormonal disruptions, a change of environment, moving - all this can cause stress, and therefore aggression.
What should you do if a cat bites you?
- Do not scream or punish the animal. This will only aggravate the situation.
- Treat the wound with an antiseptic.
- Consult a veterinarian if the wound is deep or if the cat has bitten your hand.
How to stop a cat from biting?
- Socialize your kitten from an early age.
- Do not allow her to bite during play.
- Teach her to let you know when she doesn't like something.
- Consult an animal psychologist if you can't deal with the problem on your own.
