How to get the best apple harvest with a simple nail: an incredible secret of gardeners
Apple and pear trees, which can be found in almost every garden, require special care to achieve a rich harvest. It is not easy to grow these fruit trees, as even high-quality seedlings from a nursery do not guarantee a steady harvest of good fruit in the future.
Newcomers to gardening often resort to fertilizers in the hope of improving the yield of their trees. However, people with experience sometimes use certain tricks, writes the Good News portal.
How to increase the apple harvest
Experienced gardeners often resort to a different strategy - they stop fertilizing the tree using a method known as shocking. Usually, when a person buys a young seedling and plants it, he or she follows all the rules of plant care.

As a result, during the first few years, the young tree actively blooms, but over time, it matures and becomes a mature tree. However, the number of fruits it bears is reduced compared to previous years.
If the harvest is insufficient or the fruit does not meet expectations in terms of quality, then there is no point in continuing to care for such a tree. In this case, gardeners with extensive experience usually resort to a proven method. When an apple tree spends its energy only on growth, but not on fruit formation, it needs to create conditions that encourage fruiting.
To do this, a rusty nail is driven into the trunk of the apple tree, which is safe for the tree but effectively stimulates it to better yield. The nail should be driven into a selected place on the trunk, where it can be easily removed later, and the hole should be covered with garden varnish.
