If the root remains fresh, and the skin around it is greenish-yellow, this indicates that the pineapple is not yet ripe. In this case, it can be left in a dark place for two weeks to ripen. However, if you need a ripe fruit immediately, choose a pineapple with a dried root.

The second sign is the overall color of the fruit. A ripe pineapple usually has a deep brownish-yellow hue, while an unripe pineapple retains a greenish appearance.
