Food safety experts warn about the dangers of using plastic containers, foil, and other everyday items in the kitchen.

Nutritionist Tetiana Yarmoshyk advised on her Instagram page to forget about plastic containers forever. She noted that they emit harmful chemicals.

According to the expert, plastics can release bisphenol A (BPA) and other phthalates that can negatively affect health, including the endocrine system, reproductive system, and fetal development.

They are also dangerous when heated. Heating plastic containers can lead to the release of even more harmful chemicals into food.

Tetiana Yarmoshyk also advises to stop using foil for baking food. She noted that aluminum can accumulate in the body and cause health problems such as Alzheimer's disease and osteoporosis.

The expert added that foil can chemically react with food, changing its taste and nutritional value.

Other dangerous items:

  • Plastic kettles: When heated, they can release harmful chemicals.
  • Damaged cookware: Cracks and chips in cookware can harbor bacteria.
  • Wooden cutting boards: Wood can absorb bacteria if it is not cleaned properly.

The expert advises replacing plastic containers with glass, steel, or ceramic ones.

Use parchment paper instead of foil. Buy a metal or glass electric kettle instead of a plastic one.

Replace cookware regularly and throw away damaged items.
